I grew up in Irkutsk. I studied mechanical engineering first, then design, and after that monumental and decorative painting. In 2003 I discovered computer graphics, and that interest ended up shaping the rest of my path.
Houdini is what really caught me: I like building a result out of algorithms and code rather than making it by hand. That turned into a career - Main Road Post in Moscow, then Cinemotion in Sofia, and now Wētā FX in Wellington. My work has covered simulations, character effects, lighting, tool development and pipeline setup at different times. These days I specialize in FX.
Outside of film I make sound and visuals: modular synthesizers, Max/MSP, field recordings and TouchDesigner, and now and then I play audiovisual live sets. Making music with algorithms fascinates me - apparently that’s just my way of approaching anything.
Commercial work is in Projects, personal work in Arts.
I’m open to collaborations, or just a chat. Write to me on Instagram or LinkedIn - I’d be glad to hear from you.
